PAUL - Mackenzie Crook

PAUL - Mackenzie Crook

London Tube driver Paul is lonely, shy and frustrated. Not yet 30, his life has seemingly gone off the rails.

An aspiring novelist with a severe case of writers block, he dreams of escaping the city bustle for a tranquil life in the Scottish Highlands.

Mackenzie Crook - BIOG.

Portraying Paul in Three And Out is Mackenzie's first lead role in a feature film. His movie career took off in 2003 when he played Ragetti, the pirate with a dodgy wooden eye in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL, followed by PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST in 2006 and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLDS END in 2007.

Mackenzie became a household name with his memorable portrayal of sidekick Gareth Keenan opposite Ricky Gervais's David Brent in the UK television series, THE OFFICE from 2001 to 2003.

Mackenzie played an eccentric university professor in I WANT CANDY in 2007 and performed as Launcelot Gobbo alongside Al Pacino in 2004 in the MERCHANT OF VENICE. He has also appeared in THE BROTHERS GRIMM, CHURCHILL: THE HOLLYWOOD YEARS, THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PETER SELLERS, THE SEX LIVES OF THE POTATO MEN and THE GATHERING. His very first film role was in the short film, THE MAN WHO FELL IN LOVE WITH A TRAFFIC CONE in 1996.

Also a skillful stage actor, Mackenzie has appeared in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST and THE EXONERATED. His most acclaimed role was Konstantin Gavrilovich in Chekov's THE SEAGULL, for which he received an Evening Standard Theatre Award nomination.

Before working in television, Mackenzie spent eight years on the stand-up comedy circuit, gaining the strongest praise for his sinister character, Mr Bagshaw, and he was described by comedian Bob Mortimer as "the best character comedian around". From 1998 he worked on and appeared in THE 11 O'CLOCK SHOW and then moved to sketch show TV TO GO in 2001.

Mackenzie began acting with the Orchard Youth Theatre in Dartford in his teens.
