Rosemary lives a quiet life in the Lake District. As feisty as her daughter, and with the charm and energy of a teenager, Rosemary is prepared to take on anyone.
Before playing Rosemary in Three And Out, award-winning screen and stage actress Imelda Staunton appeared as Dolores Umbridge in HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, with one critic describing her as "one of the film's greatest pleasures". Her portrayal of Miss Pole in the 2007 BBC costume drama CRANFORD was also widely praised by viewers and critics alike.
The title role in Mike Leigh's VERA DRAKE in 2005 won Imelda the most accolades, including Best Actress awards from BAFTA, the Venice Film Festival, the Evening Standard Awards, the British Independent Film Awards and several US Film critics awards. She also won Golden Globe and Academy Award best actress nominations for this performance.
Imelda has appeared in more than 20 films throughout her 30-year career, including FREEDOM WRITERS, NANNY MCPHEE, CHICKEN RUN and BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS. Her first major film was PETER'S FRIENDS in 1992, followed by MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in 1993 and SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE in 1998, which was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble Performance.
Imelda Staunton's numerous television appearances include WIND IN THE WILLOWS, MY FAMILY AND OTHER ANIMALS, MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, LITTLE BRITAIN, FINGERSMITH, DAVID COPPERFIELD, THE SINGING DETECTIVE, IF YOU SEE GOD, TELL HIM and A BIT OF FRY AND LAURIE.
Imelda Staunton trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and began her acting career in
repertory theatre, before moving to London theatre in the eighties and nineties. It was on the
London stage that she received three Olivier Awards - the highest theatre honour - for A CHORUS
OF DISAPPROVAL, THE CORN IS GREEN and INTO THE WOODS, plus a nomination for GUYS AND DOLLS.
